Ask HN: Useful tips, tricks, and mindset changes navigating frothy organizations
Reasonably senior level IC (Principal / Senior Staff) for several years at a big company (think FAANG). Recently there have been several priority shifts percolating from top down in a very frothy and heterogenous manner. Re-orgs and key people departing are not surprising.
Looking at it in one way - a sinking ship. Looking at it in another way - a large ship pivoting and shedding parts of it.
For those who have been in big orgs and have survived or even thrived org and priority changes that are pretty sweeping, what are your tips and tricks? What are some fundamental mindset changes that you found useful to help you navigate?
